The Duke Endowment Celebrates a $3 Billion Milestone
This season of giving, The Duke Endowment gave its $3 billionth dollar to enrich lives in North Carolina and South Carolina.
This milestone gives us an opportunity to celebrate our grantees, past and present, who share our founder's commitment to making a difference. It took the Endowment 68 years to distribute its first $1 billion, another 12 years to reach $2 billion, and only eight more to arrive at $3 billion. As we mark another chapter in James B. Duke's legacy, we open the door to new opportunities for supporting work that brings lasting change.
