Duke Alumnus Yizheng He Wins 2010 Chopin Video Award

Yizheng He, who studied piano at Duke for four years with Pei-Fen Liu, won the 2010 Chopin Video Contest sponsored by Deutsche Grammophon. The contest, celebrating the Chopin bicentennial, was judged by Alice Sara Ott, one of the best Chopin interpreters of her generation.

Yizheng's winning video, in which he performs Chopin's B-flat minor Nocturne Op. 9, No. 1, was filmed in Baldwin Auditorium at Duke University.

Willa Brigham: Making Stories from Nature, v.1

Sarah P. Duke Gardens' Arts in the Garden series will present Willa Brigham on Nov. 20, 2010. Willa is a storyteller, poet, recording artist and host of the regional Emmy Award-winning morning television show "Smart Start Kids" on WRAL and public television. With her work, Willa aims to empower children and adults alike to believe in themselves. Willa demonstrates in this video how easy it is to make stories from nature. Employee Kick-Off Celebration message from David Cutcliffe

More than 11,000 Duke faculty, staff and family members turned out for last year's football season opener at Wallace Wade Stadium. Now employees have the chance to create another sea of Duke blue in the stands to start the 2010 season.

As part of the annual Duke Employee Kick-Off Celebration, tickets are now available to all Duke faculty and staff for the Sept. 4 opener against Elon University. The event is sponsored by Duke Athletics and Human Resources and is part of Duke Appreciation.

The fun begins at 4 p.m. at K-Ville Quad , where employees and their friends and family members can enjoy entertainment and a catered meal at no charge and be a part of the "Blue Devil Walk" football team march to the stadium before kick-off.
