Trent Semans Center Dedication
The new signature building for the Duke University School of Medicine - The Mary Duke Biddle Trent Semans Center for Health Education - was dedicated in a special ceremony on Friday, February 8, 2013. Duke University and School of Medicine officials and faculty, members of Mary Semans' family and The Duke Endowment, and generous donors who helped make the building a reality attended. Following the dedication, guests were treated to refreshments and tours of the building.

An Energy Neutral Waste Management System for the Developing World
Dr. Jeffrey Glass, Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering and Hogg Family Director of Engineering Management and Entrepreneurship at Duke University, talks about development of a fully integrated waste management system that combines electrochemical disinfection of liquid waste with combustion of biomass to convert solid waste into recoverable energy. This project was sponsored by the Gates Foundation's "Reinvent the Toilet Challenge" with a focus on individual household waste management for developing regions.
